My First Opera!

Friday at the end of work I got a last minute invitation to the Opera with Heather... "I've never been to the opera, what do I wear?!!!!!

I was working, I didnt have time to look for an outfit and be ready by 5:30! I called for emergency backup. Asked Ruby to make me an outfit. This is what I found when I got off work. Ruby laid out 4 outfits including shoes and accessories. She is so funny. She does this all the time.

Heather invited me to the Portland Opera to see Orpee. Her mom has season box tickets and was out of town.

what I didnt know is that Opera's have subtitles to help you understand what is going on.
Ok my review of the Opera...WEIRD! The lady sitting next to me is also a singer and she said Orphee is currently the most 'modern' of the Operas out there. I usually dont understand modern art, dance, ect.... So what I was able to understand is that Death fell in love with a poet so she killed his pregnant wife and the poet got to go to the other side wearing magic gloves to pass through mirrors and then they had to go to court and the judges were drinking tea and they got a 2nd chance at life but they couldnt look at each other then the poet looked at his wife by mistake and she died again and........... and each time someone died bikers came to drag the bodies away. I appreciated the orchestra and the amazing human voice but the story was too weird for me! ha ha haduring "halftime" heather and I went to the lounge for drinks.after the play Heather challenged me to the "best burger ever". on the walk there we found 400 red lanterns and I fell in love with them.

Heather was RIGHT. Best Burger Ever at Higgins. A gourmet resturant with very creative menu items and we ordered the burger.
so delicious. I NEVER order burgers. I always take so long to order because I have to read every item and try the most creative dish. But this time I just enjoyed the simplicity of the burger. We also met Leslie Mann.
you might recognize her from a handful of comedies.

I should have been more clear despite the weirdness it was really FUN! I liked people watching. sometimes i'd just star at the orchestra and listen to the amazing singing.
