I love cooking according to what's fresh in the garden. I always go out to the garden (or the aunt's garden!) and see what's ready: with our basil and tomato plants in harvest mode, I'm all about the caprisi saldas right now.

Are you able to freeze/can/save some of your extra veggies?

yes in the freezer i have: strawberries, peas, snow peas, chopped&blanched collard greens, blueberries. I sorta let my massive bag of green beans go bad, the guilt sucks. everything else we've been eating fresh. i made a huge batch of salsa to help with the tomato surplus and i've given a lot of stuff away.
